COVID-19 Antibody Testing

COVID-19 Antibody Testing

What is the Blusense machine?

Our Blusense machine is a portable device specifically designed for single-drop-of-blood diagnostics operations.

Our machine tests for COVID-19 antibodies, to see if you have had previous exposure to the virus and/or had an antibody response to vaccination.

How does the COVID-19 antibody test work?

Antibody testing is done by having a one finger-prick blood sample taken in our pharmacy by our Pharmacist. It is tested on site and you will have your results within minutes.

How long does it take for my results?

It takes 10 minutes to get your results from when we take a sample. Our Pharmacist will talk you through your results, which are printed for you to take home.

Who should be tested?

This test is suitable for everyone, but if any of the points below apply to you, we recommend you book your test now:

  • If you are Immunocompromised or have any underlying health conditions and want to know if you have developed an immune response after your vaccination.
  • If you are unsure how you reacted to the vaccine, did you produce antibodies.
  • It has been a while since your vaccination and you want to know your levels of antibodies.
  • You want to check your antibodies to see if you were previously infected with Covid 19.

How much does it cost?

Antibody testing is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 and the price for the antibody test is €19.99.

How accurate is the test?

No test is 100% accurate, however our diagnostic accuracy is 99%.

What do my results mean?

negative result (0-20 BAU/mL) means there is no evidence you were previously infected with COVID-19. However, this does not completely rule out past infection, it simply means there are no antibodies currently or remaining in your system.

equivocal result (20-30 BAU/mL) signifies a very low to non-detectable amount of antibodies.

positive result (30-230 BAU/mL) indicates that you have had an immune response to the COVID-19 virus and were likely to have had previous exposure to the virus or had an antibody response to vaccination.

Please Note

  1. The presence of antibodies does not necessarily mean that the individual is protected against future attacks of Covid-19.
  2. Please note, antibody tests should not be used to diagnose someone as being currently sick with Covid-19. To check for a current infection, you need a viral test such as a swab from inside your nose.
