Icelandic moss (Latin: Cetraria islandica) is a plant similar to moss that grows throughout Europe, predominantly at higher altitudes. It is rich in calcium, iodine, potassium, phosphorus and various vitamins, and has soothing and protective properties for the mucous membrane. In folk medicine, the medicinal plant has been used since the 17th century, predominantly for respiratory and lung disorders but also for other symptoms, such as inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis).
Mallow (Latin: Malva sylvestris) is a plant that grows throughout Europe and has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times. It is known for its soothing and protective effects on the mucous membrane. Mallow flowers in folk medicine have been used for common cold symptoms such as dry coughs and sore throats as well as to treat bladder problems and digestive issues.
