Lactoferrin is an active protein that occurs naturally in many body fluids, and is found in the highest concentration in human colostrum and the milk that follows it. Lactoferrin occurs in trace amounts in formula milks, which is why the diet of infants and children fed with formula milk is practically devoid of this ingredient. The solution is to use lactoferrin in the diet. Lactoferrin can be used from the first days of life.
