Prescriptions Made Simple

We can usually dispense prescriptions issued by registered healthcare professionals in Ireland and other EU/EEA countries, subject to legal, clinical and availability checks.

Prescriptions from the EU/EEA

We can usually dispense prescriptions issued by a registered doctor, dentist or nurse prescriber practising in another EU/EEA country.

What your prescription must include

To help us process your prescription, please make sure it clearly includes:

  • Your full name and date of birth
  • The prescriber’s full name and professional qualification
  • The prescriber’s work address and country
  • The prescriber’s email address and telephone or fax number, including the international code
  • The date of issue and the prescriber’s handwritten or electronic signature
  • The medicine name, strength, form, quantity and dosage instructions

How to send your prescription

Please ask your prescriber to send the prescription directly to our pharmacy, or provide the original paper prescription.

A photograph or prescription displayed on your phone may not be accepted because we must be able to verify where it came from.

Important information

  • The prescriber’s registration and the prescription details must be verified before dispensing.
  • The medicine must be authorised and available in Ireland.
  • EU/EEA prescriptions cannot be used for controlled drugs or unlicensed medicines.
  • The pharmacist may contact your prescriber or ask you additional questions.
  • Dispensing remains subject to the pharmacist’s professional and clinical assessment.
  • You will normally need to pay the full cost of the medicine.
